What does yellow discharge mean

Okay so usually, a little bit of discharge is totally normal. Like, it's how your body cleans itself and keeps things healthy down there, and the color can change all the time. But sometimes yellow discharge can mean something else is going on.

Most of the time, yellow discharge is just super normal. Seriously. It can change color a little based on your cycle, what you've eaten (weird, I know!), or even if it's been a little bit since you've changed your underwear. Usually, it's just your body doing its thing, and if it doesn't smell weird or make you itch, you probably don't need to worry.

When to tell a grown-up

Sometimes, though, yellow discharge can be a sign of something that needs a grown-up to check out. It might be time to talk to someone if the discharge is:

• Really thick or chunky
• Super smelly, like a bad smell
• Makes you itchy or red down there
• You feel any burning when you pee

If you have any of those other things happening with the yellow discharge, it's a good idea to tell your mom or another trusted grown-up. They can help you figure out if you need to see a doctor just to make sure everything's okay. It's probably nothing to freak out about, but it's always better to check, you know?
