What happens if you don't change your pad often

Okay so, if you don't change your pad often enough, it can start to get kinda gross and itchy, and it can smell a bit, which is totally normal because, like, it's literally blood sitting there. But also, it's not super good for your skin down there and can make you more likely to get rashes or infections, which is super annoying and uncomfortable.

Changing your pad regularly, like every 3-4 hours, even on lighter days, really helps keep everything fresh and clean. When you change it, it's also a good idea to, like, gently wipe the area with a wet wipe or some toilet paper just to feel extra fresh. Keeping a few extra pads in your bag is always a good idea so you don't get caught without one. No one wants to be surprised by a sudden heavy flow, right?

If you ever feel super itchy or irritated down there, or if something just smells really off (more than just regular period smell), that might be a sign of an infection, so definitely tell a grown-up about it. They can help you figure out what's going on.
