When do you think my period will start?

Okay, so predicting your exact first period can be a little tricky because everyone is different, but there are some signs your body gives you that it's getting ready.

First periods usually show up between ages 10 and 15, and the average is around 12 or 13. Mine came when I was 12! But it's totally normal for it to be earlier or later. Your body starts to go through puberty changes way before your period actually starts.

Signs your period is coming

There are a few big clues that your period is probably on its way:

• Breast development: This is usually the first sign of puberty, and most girls get their period about two to three years after their breasts start growing.
• Pubic hair: You'll probably notice some hair starts growing down there a while before your first period.
• Growth spurt: You might have noticed you're growing super fast, like your clothes are too short all of a sudden. Periods often show up a year or two after your big growth spurt.
• Vaginal discharge: This is a clear or white liquid that you might see in your underwear. It usually starts about six months to a year before your first period. This is literally your body's way of cleaning itself and it's totally normal and healthy.
