Discharge is like your body's way of cleaning itself out, which is good. The thicker, stickier kind usually means you're close to ovulating (when an egg gets released), and that can be a few weeks before your period. Before your period, it might get more creamy or watery, and then just before your period, it will get really light again. So you can use it as a clue!
