Back to questions

Okay so I sent something like this last question but I normally get headaches when there’s a storm coming, or I use a hot tub (that’s only sometimes) and I used a hot tub and there’s a storm coming is it a period headache or that I think it’s just the storm I have a condition where I get headaches for no real reason well sometimes is a reason but it’s like the pressure changing in my body. But couldn’t the condition make period headaches worse

Okay, so like, it actually totally makes sense that your usual headache stuff could team up with period headaches and make them feel even worse. Your body changing (from puberty, hormones, a period coming soon) and external stuff like weather changes can totally work together to make you feel a certain way. It's not usually one thing being the only reason for how you're feeling. Everything kind of interacts with everything else in your body, you know?

What's going on

Your period and your cycle come with a lot of hormonal changes, and those changes can sometimes cause headaches. It's super common! Since you already get headaches from other things like storms or pressure changes, your body might just be extra sensitive to those types of triggers. So when your cycle hormones are doing their thing AND there's a storm brewing, it's like a double whammy for your head.

What you can do

It's always a good idea to keep track of when your headaches happen. You can note if it's before your period, during a storm, after a hot tub, or all three! Knowing your patterns can help you figure out what might help you feel better. For pain, usually an adult can help you figure out if regular pain relievers are okay for you. Staying hydrated and getting enough sleep can help with all kinds of headaches too. Sometimes putting a cool cloth on your forehead or resting in a dark, quiet room can make a difference.

If your headaches are super painful, or they're happening more often, or if you're worried about them, it's always worth mentioning it to a trusted grown-up so they can help you talk to a doctor about it. They can help make sure everything's okay and give you the best advice for your condition. You can use the Soso app to track your headaches, moods, and the weather even, so you can start seeing if there are any patterns!
