Why do we get hair around our vagina? Is it for like, protection??

Okay so that's called pubic hair, and it grows when you start puberty. It's totally normal and pretty much everyone gets it! It's like a sign your body is growing up and getting ready for all the adult stuff.

Yeah, it totally is for protection! Think of it like a little cushion and a barrier. It helps to protect the skin down there from rubbing against clothes and can keep out some dirt and bacteria. It also helps with keeping the temperature just right. So it's not just there for no reason, it's actually super useful.

Pubic hair starts out usually light and soft, and then as you get older, it gets darker, thicker, and curlier. Everyone's is a little different and that's okay. It's just another part of your body changing as you get older.
