Why do boys go through better puberty than girls and how come my mom knows a lot about boy puberty

Okay so puberty can feel super different for everyone, and it's not really about one being "better" than the other, just different. Boys and girls have different hormones doing their thing, so the changes are just, like, not the same.

For girls, our main thing is getting ready to have periods and our bodies changing a lot, which can feel like a whole roller coaster. We get breast buds, our hips widen, hair grows in new places, and then periods start. All of this can come with stuff like cramps and mood swings, because hormones are literally doing so much.

Boys have different changes, like their voices dropping, getting taller, and growing hair on their faces and bodies. They have different hormones that cause their changes, which can also be super weird for them sometimes! Your mom probably knows a lot about boy puberty because she's a grown-up and has, like, seen it happen to lots of people, maybe even your dad or uncles or other guys she knows. Or maybe she just read up on it because she's awesome and wants to understand how everyone grows up. Grown-ups know a lot of random stuff, it's kinda their superpower.
