Sometimes my discharge switches from being creamy and white to yellow and dry or to white and watery. What does this mean?

Okay so it's totally normal for your vaginal discharge to change its look and feel, literally every day sometimes! It's just your body doing its thing, and figuring out your cycle.

What it means

Your body makes different amounts of hormones at different times during your cycle, and these hormones tell your vagina to make different kinds of discharge. So, like:

• Creamy and white discharge is super common and usually means you're not ovulating (when an egg is released) yet, or you already did. It's just hanging out, keeping things healthy.
• Yellow and dry can just be from your discharge drying on your underwear, or if it's really light yellow, it might just be the very end of a creamy phase. If it's bright yellow or has a strong smell, that might be something to mention to a grown-up.
• White and watery usually means your body is getting ready for ovulation, or you're already ovulating. It's slippery and helps sperm travel, even if you're not anywhere near that yet. It also signals your period might be on its way soon.

Basically, these changes are like your body's secret message about what's happening inside. It's pretty cool once you start to notice the patterns. Just remember that healthy discharge usually doesn't itch or smell really strong and bad. If it does, definitely tell a trusted grown-up so they can help you figure out if you need to see a doctor.
