My mom got her period the summer before eight grade and I’m now in my summer before eight grade and I still don’t have my period and my breasts are only pointy

Okay so everyone's body is different, and there's no exact timeline for when your period will start, even if your mom got hers at a certain age. It's totally normal for it to happen at different times.

Usually, the first sign of puberty is breast budding, which sounds like what's happening for you! Most girls get their period about two to three years after their breasts start developing. So even if your mom got hers earlier, your body is on its own schedule, and it sounds like things are doing what they're supposed to do.

Other signs that your period might be coming in the next year or so are a growth spurt, like you suddenly feel taller, and then vaginal discharge. It's usually clear or white and shows up in your underwear. That's your body just cleaning itself and getting ready for your period. Some people get discharge for a few months before their first period.
