My mom got her period in 8th grade and I’m going into 6th grade. I think I’m ready to get it. I might get it once I realize middle school isn’t that bad :) I know it’s not but my mind refuses to understand it.

Okay so it's super normal to be thinking about when your period will start, especially when you're headed into middle school. It's awesome that you're ready for it! Knowing when your mom got hers can give you a clue, but everyone's body is different, so yours could start earlier or later.

Usually, girls get their first period between ages 10 and 13, but it can be anytime from 8 to 15. The biggest sign that your period is coming soon is when you start to see a clear or whitish discharge in your undies. That usually kicks in about six to twelve months before your first period, so when you see that, you know it's getting real.

Also, a lot of girls get a growth spurt and their breasts start to develop in the couple of years before their period. So if you're growing taller fast and noticing changes there, that's another hint.
