Okay so everyone's body is different, but there are definitely signs that your period might be getting ready to arrive. It's like your body gives you little clues!

What to look for

One of the first big clues is breast development. Like, when your breasts start to grow, doctors say your period usually shows up about two or three years after that starts. Another super common sign is vaginal discharge. It's usually clear or white and feels kind of sticky, and that can start showing up a few months to a year before your first period. So if you're seeing that, it's a pretty strong hint.

Other common signs

You might also notice a growth spurt where you suddenly get taller really fast, and maybe some new hair under your arms or down there. Some kids also feel a little extra emotional or get some cramps a few days before their period, kind of like PMS. But honestly, for your first period, it might just surprise you! Doctors say it's normal for your first year or two of periods to be kind of all over the place, like some months you get one and some months you don't. It will settle down later.
