Okay, so it sounds like you're describing your very first period and you're wondering if what you're seeing is normal. Yes, girl, totally normal! First periods, and even the ones for the first year or two, are often pretty light and can be all kinds of colors. It's like your body is still figuring things out.

What it feels like

It's super common for your first period to start with just a little spotting. Like, barely there brown or pink stuff. Then it might get a little heavier and turn reddish before getting lighter again. It's not usually a super heavy gush right away. Doctors say it's normal for it to be kinda all over the place with colors and flow for a while, so don't freak out if it's not like the super red, steady flow you might see in movies.

What to do about it

Just keep doing what you're doing by checking your pad! You can keep track of the color and how much blood there is. It helps you get to know your own body and what's normal for you. Also, make sure you have pads or period underwear ready for when it does decide to be a bit heavier.

If you ever feel super dizzy, or you're soaking through pads really fast (like, every hour for a few hours), that's when it's good to tell a grown-up just to make sure everything's okay. But what you're describing sounds exactly like a typical first period. You got this!
