The first thing most people notice is their breasts starting to develop, like little buds. That happens for a few years before, and then you'll usually have a big growth spurt too, where you suddenly get taller. Another big sign that your period is getting closer is when you start to get a white or yellowish discharge in your underwear.

• Breast buds: Your breasts start to grow, and this can be a couple of years before your period.
• Growth spurt: You get taller, like really fast. Your feet might grow first, which is kinda funny.
• Vaginal discharge: This is like a clear or whitish goo in your underwear, and it usually means your period is coming in the next 6 months to a year. It's totally normal and not something to worry about.

It's impossible to say exactly when yours will show up, because everyone is different. But doctors say it's pretty typical to get your first period between 10 and 13 years old. Some people get it a little earlier, some a little later, and that's all normal too. There's nothing you need to do to make it happen faster or slower, your body just knows what it's doing.
