I have been getting a lot of brown discharge

Okay, so brown discharge is super normal and a lot of girls get it. It's usually just old blood that's taking its sweet time to leave your body.

What it is

So, your period blood isn't always bright red. When it mixes with air as it leaves your body, it can turn darker colors, like brown or even black. It's totally normal and can happen at the beginning or end of your period, or even sometimes in between.

Why it happens

Brown discharge can happen for a bunch of reasons. Sometimes it means your period is about to start or just ended. Sometimes it's like a mid-cycle clean-out. It's basically your body's way of doing its thing and getting rid of old stuff. It can be a little surprising to see, but it's usually nothing to worry about.

If you're ever worried or if the discharge smells weird, makes you itchy, or you have pain, then it's a good idea to tell a grown-up just to be sure. Most of the time though, brown discharge is just your body doing its normal thing and getting ready for or finishing up your period.
